Blue Spring State Park – Saturday Morning, February 24

The First Coast Trail Forgers plan a group walk of the Blue Spring State Park year-round event. They plan to leave the Jacksonville area at 7:45 a.m. Those who will travel directly to the park should be at Blue Spring by 9:45. Registration for the YRE is at the Entrance Station. Tell the attendant you are a volkssporter who plans to take the FVA walk and that you are meeting others to do so. Since parking at the entrance station is limited, consider car-pooling with others.

Trail: The walk is a shaded walk on paved park road, unpaved campground and cabin roads, park service roads, hiking trails, Blue Run and Spring Boil boardwalks. Tour Thursby House, read several display boards on boardwalk and see manatees in winter. Blue Spring State Park YRE is sponsored by the Florida Volkssport Association and is a “Walk Florida State Parks” event.

Directions: From I-4, take Exit 114, SR 472 west for 3.1 mi., US 17-92 south for 1.7 mi.,

right on W. French Ave. for 2 mi., and left into Park. Entrance fee $5 per vehicle.
